Nasturtium officinale): a species of semi-aquatic, flowering perennial of the family Brassicaceae. Rapid grower.
Contains many nutrients and phytonutrients including vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium and magnesium.
Peppery, earthy flavor.
Maricel Presilla’s Avocado and Grilled Pineapple Salad:
Cube pineapple.
Sprinkle with brown sugar and run under broiler to caramelize.
Mix with Florida avocado, queso fresco dice, and julienne of red onions.
Arrange on watercress dressed with Seville orange juice, habanero peppers, cumin, and olive oil—and serve plenty of Cuban bread on the side.
